CHARACTERS IN-GAME: arjuna, wei wuxian.
▶ CHARACTER
NAME: mika kagehira.
CANON: ensemble stars!
CANON POINT: early year, post main story but before milky way.
AGE: sixteen.
BACKGROUND: here. since mika is from an early canon point, the most important story point for him is marionette, which counts the story of the prior year before enstars' current year. the late events in the story happened just before the current school semester started.
PERSONALITY: mika kagehira is a peculiar person in and of himself. born with heterochromia, that little genetic mishap gave birth to some important parts of his story, childhood and personality. abandoned by his parents when he was young, he came to believe it had solely been because of his weird, mismatched eyes, growing quickly to dislike and be far too self-conscious of them. it provided him with abandonment issues that exist until current times; he believes wholeheartedly that if he does not make himself useful to people, he will be left behind and forgotten. it is one of the many reasons why he overworks himself, why he always wants to help others — if they can find purpose in him, he won't be abandoned. he is cautious even with material objects, as though they bear feelings; says that even if his possessions ended up breaking or wearing out, he'd fix them and keep using them, because he is first-handedly aware of how cruel it is when one is discarded and thrown away. those abandonment issues, as much as they weight heavy on him and turn him insecure, also make of mika a very considerate person of other people's feelings.
unhealthy as that way of thinking can be, it tired him out to the point of having him run away from his orphanage at one point in time, leading him to his first meeting with shu itsuki. for a boy with nothing special going for himself, below average and easily abandoned, that man was seen as a god in his eyes, and shu quickly became a motivator in mika's life. years later, he joined yumenosaki academy solely for him, became an idol solely so he could stay by his side — thus, becoming shu's defective, imperfect doll.
being a puppet mains mika's current personality. he believes all that his oshi-san, shu, tells him; that he is ugly, stupid, defective, useless. the abuse he accepts with open arms and fond heart, and never once assumes those words to be lies. he does, after all, think there is nothing he can do right in his life, not sewing, not singing, not dancing — not when shu exists, and does all of that so flawlessly. if he has trouble understanding basic things, people, and even their feelings, it is because he is lacking not brain-cells, but an entire brain in his skull. if he makes a mistake, it is because he can't do anything right, not when shu isn't pulling his strings. this overdependent way of thinking does not harm mika in any way, and it is up for debate if he accepts all of it without ever talking back because shu finds purpose in him, keeps him around, and doesn't abandon him, despite being such a low-quality doll.
arashi narukami, mika's best friend and classmate, doesn't quite agree with that way of life her friend leads; she believes that mika is a kind-hearted person who much can do if he believes in it — he is an extremely talented individual (thought so as well by keito hasumi, the school's vice-president), who can do quite a lot by himself if only he put his heart to it and let himself lead his own life without being pulled by strings. he is an honest boy who, despite easily gullible, holds a genuine love to help others, whether physically or by doing so well in his idol activities that he can inspire others like shu has inspired him. he can be quite meek at times, despising attention from others (which he finds solace in being in the back of valkyrie's stage, despite being there solely because shu can't stand mika's mistakes and inexperience), freaking out easily if anyone were to stare at him. towards others of his gender, he has quite some trouble speaking with them, admitting he fears (to some extent) men, and can much easily speak with girls, as he grew up surrounded by many. and above all, he is incredibly loyal —
— much too so that, if anyone were to betray his trust, he'll do his best to keep them an arm's length away and treat them like an enemy... despite being quite bad at being a mean person. he is overprotective of those he is fond of as well, which can come off as quite the surprise for many. he might look fragile and hardly independent, but he will put up a fight and become serious if those he loves are being treated or harmed in any way. it gives him a bit of a selective sense of justice, but he does, at the end of the day, look down on injustice of any kind and even tends to avoid conflict.
POWERS/ABILITIES: none! he's a normal idol boy.
